There are dangerous drugs being sold to the public…both prescription and over-the-counter.

Why does this happen? Why isn’t the public protected? To begin with over-the-counter drugs are not regulated. The FDA only concerns itself with prescription drugs.

Why do the harmful drugs get approved by the FDA? Some say the FDA is understaffed and underfunded.

What should we do to protect our health and the health of our loved ones? The first major step is to select the right doctors and the right pharmacist. Then try to get the doctors and pharmacists to work together to make sure you are getting the right drugs for you.

I had a personal experience that was really scary. My out-of-town specialist prescribed a drug for me that had been approved by the FDA and was very popular. When I took this drug I went into orbit. I called my out-of-town doctor on a Thursday and told him about my serious problems after taking this drug. He told me that those complaints are common and would go away…to keep taking it and call him back on Tuesday. There was no way that I would take even one more of those pills…if I had taken them I think I may have gone to the Great Beyond. Instead I contacted my local internist who told me to do exactly what I was going to do any way. He told me I was having a serious reaction to that pill which was an expected complication for some people…and told me to get off the pill right-a-way. Advice of my other doctor to continue the medication was a serious mistake.

So…choose the right doctor and watch out for a reaction and keep your pharmacist close to your vest. Your life could be at stake.

If you have a serious injury or condition that you think may have been due to a drug get prompt medical treatment and also legal advice as to what your rights are.

By all means, be careful.
